Our 4-week Optometry Internship Program transitions students from academic learning to clinical competence. Under the guidance of experienced ophthalmologists and optometrists, interns will actively engage in patient care, diagnostics, and treatment planning.

Learning Objectives

Educational Plan — 4 Weeks

Week 1 — Basic Clinical Skills & Refraction
  • 1. History taking and visual acuity (VA) assessment
  • 2. Preliminary eye tests and patient interaction
  • 3. Refraction techniques (objective and subjective)
  • 4. Slit-lamp examination basics and tonometry
  • 5. Identifying cases requiring referral
Week 2 — Corneal Evaluation & Topography
  • 1. Clinical evaluation and diagnostic testing of the cornea
  • 2. Identification and documentation of common corneal conditions
  • 3. Use of corneal topography for keratoconus and irregular astigmatism
Week 3 — Contact Lens Fitting & Management
  • 1. Pre-fitting evaluation and soft lens fitting
  • 2. RGP lens fitting techniques
  • 3. Managing contact lens-related complications
  • 4. Introduction to specialty lenses
Week 4 — Posterior Segment & Imaging
  • 1. Fundus examination techniques
  • 2. OCT imaging and interpretation
  • 3. A-Scan and B-Scan ultrasound evaluation
  • 4. Optical biometry and IOL measurement
Duration: 4 Weeks
